February 2026

Work

Leading the Commercial Tech & Platforms team at Accruent. Keeping the sales and marketing tech stack running, which is less glamorous than it sounds but somebody’s gotta do it. Midway through Q1 and now is the time to really see if that roadmap planning really paid off, or if priorities have shifted again.

Home

2026 has been off to a surprisingly rough start at home. Mainly due to kids that bring home viruses that spread to everyone and suddenly its a week later, I haven’t even had the energy to tell the robot vacuum to clean the floors, and I’ve been actively replacing electrolytes for ages. Hoping I’m now immune to anything else thats brought home this winter.

I keep wanting to make more bread, too.

Making

  • Tinkering with my Bambu P1S (3D printing)
  • Building weird little web things when the mood strikes
  • Rebuilding this website from scratch. You may have noticed, all 2 subscribers, that I’ve moved from stackandsignal.com to jimmypiraino.com.

Reading

I am honestly blown away that I’ve managed to read 6 books in January. Most have been Dungeon Crawler Carl installments.

Want to Learn

Photography — I have a Sony a6000 that I keep meaning to learn how to use. I’m figuring out how I can use AI to help coach me through some lessons.

Typography — I keep noticing fonts but can’t explain why some feel right. Want to understand the basics.

Electronics repair — I’d rather fix things than throw them away. Haven’t started yet.

January 2026

Work

Back from the holiday break. Catching up on everything that piled up while pretending email doesn’t exist.

Home

Post-holiday recovery mode. The kids got way too many toys and now we’re figuring out where to put them all.

Making

  • Started planning a website rebuild
  • Printed about 1000 axolotl toys for an upcoming kids party
  • Cups of French press coffee - I’m vibrating through my days

Reading

Trying to start the year strong. If historical data prove accurate, January will be a big month, and my reading cadence will slow down by mid-late March.

December 2025

Work

Wrapping up the year. Trying to close out projects before everyone mentally checks out for the holidays.

Home

Full holiday chaos. School stuff, family stuff, too many cookies.

Making

  • Not much honestly - too busy with holiday stuff
  • As is tradition, I print some kind of container or gift case that is nearly impossible to open to give to my siblings.

Reading

I packed in quite a few this month. I feel like December is always the month I pick up all the half finished books from the year and try to close them out. Almost feels like cheating when suddenly I mark that I’ve read 10 books this month.
