Dungeon Crawler Carl
Matt Dinniman
A sarcastic man and his cat navigate an alien-run death game dungeon. It's absurd, hilarious, and somehow deeply moving. Start here if you want something that doesn't take itself too seriously but still delivers.
The Convenience Store by the Sea
Sonoko Machida
I absolutely loved this book. Felt like a palette cleanser to start the new year. It's a slice-of-life snapshot of people and their lives centered around a convenience store. I cannot wait for the second book's English translation. I'm also a big ebook guy, but there was something so enjoyable reading this as a physical book.
Livesuit
James S.A. Corey
This novella blew me away. James S.A. Corey are great at adding dimension to their worldbuilding and overarching narratives through novellas like this one.
